![]() This topic How can I record guitar directly into my macbook pro "13 retina display laptop inexpensively? (in which you posted) suggests that normal input functionality was discontinued post-2012 (Frank Caggiano's posts). HERE IS WHAT I CAME WITH (CLICK TO LISTEN)It may be like the Superdrive where input requires an Apple product such as the specifically mentioned i-Phone microphone/headset. I did it using the EQ at the end amps, effects, cabinets simulators. I cut (not reduced, cut completely) frequencies lower than 80Hz and higher than 5000Hz and this elimineted this fuzzy, unpleasent dirty clipping sound from the recordings and my headset when I try to play. Also a lot of unwanted strings touching and sliding noise is now much lower or gone. I lowered the gain knob to optimum level and it reduced this idle hiss noise. ![]() Despite it was not clipping on the interface. Here is what I came with to achieve satisfacting result:ġ. Looks like it all requires some finetuning. It looks that it is not as simple as I thought in the begining - misled by guys on YT pluging their gitars to the computer via interface and getting crystal clear and belly twisting sound out of theyr GRs and AmpliTubes. You identified my mistakes and pointed me ro right direction finding my sound. The amount and quality of your response to my querry is blowing my mind!īig big THANK YOU to everyone of you. make note of it and set it that way every time you plug that guitar into it. If you find a spot you like on that gain control.Eventually you will reach the "gain level" that sounds best.but it does get sloppy which complicates things! If you play too much you won't know if it's the playing or the tone! Keep it simple when adjusting tone. Your playing isn't as bad as you suggest. Play something really simple like a Chug on the low strings, or a big ringing chord.while slowly turning up the input/gain on the interface and playing some more. Turn the gain all the way down on your interface! ALL THE WAY DOWN to start!.Make sure your guitar is on the "bridge pickup" when setting high gain.that sustain is likely "unnatural to begin with"! You need to try this the opposite direction to retrain your ears. You will always lose sustain when you turn down the input gain BUT. Your ears will always prefer "louder" and "more gain" on a direct comparison. Where is the problem? Guitar? Cable? Interphace? Computer? Me? Tried with AmpliTube and Logic, same problem - clean sounds good, distored terrible. ![]() When I turn it much lower it doesn't help much, just sustain gets shorter. ![]() Interface gain is set just below clipping with hard palm muted strokes. AUDIO INTERFACE FOR MACBOOK PRO RETINA DRIVERSMacbook PRO 2013 Retina running MacOS Mohave with up to date drivers ESP LTD Iron Cross Snow White guitar with James Hetfield's EMG pickups (2014) AUDIO INTERFACE FOR MACBOOK PRO RETINA HOW TOI've watched a ton of videos about how to set my gear and this is what I have: Any distored sound is dirty, unpleasent to hear and play, like overgained. You hear that? I'm sure you do! Clean sound is OK. Before you do it, let me explain what to expect: Initially, purely clean guitar, then with GR5's "2nd Jazz Amp Mono to Stereo" preset, then some custom solo preset and finally with "Master of Puppets" preset from this video's description (starts at 0:15). Here is the sample of my guitar recorded with Guitar Rig 5, take a minute and listen (don't listen to my playing, listen to the sound of the guitar). But it sounds like a s**t! Mainly, because I can't play, but secondly - and here I ask you for help - something is wrong with the sound - I don't know what and how to sort it out. I'm rather a beginner, metallica is what makes my days and I'm trying to get this sound out of my guitar. I'm begging for help and I'm sure you will solve my problem.
